Bully Pulpit Second Thoughts | Swampland | TIME.com - Joe Klein - I fear that I went too easy on Mitt Romney with regard to his high school bullying escapades. It’s not the incident itself that troubles me–though it was, obviously, outrageous and disgraceful–so much as his current response: He doesn’t remember it. This is patent nonsense. How could he not remember it? Obviously, he remembers it or he wouldn’t have been so quick to issue his blanket apology yesterday for any and all hurt he may have caused at Cranbrook. And this transparent fudge once again raises questions about his character. -- I’m still waiting for the moment when Romney actually tells the truth about something difficult. He could have said, “You know, I’ve been troubled by the Cranbrook episode for most of my life, and I feel relieved, in a way, that it’s come out now. I did a really stupid and terrible thing.
Jamie's Cryin: Dimon, J.P. Morgan Chase Lose 2 Billion | Matt Taibbi | Rolling Stone - If you’re wondering why you should care if some idiot trader (who apparently has been making $100 million a year at Chase, a company that has been the recipient of at least $390 billion in emergency Fed loans) loses $2 billion for Jamie Dimon, here’s why: because J.P. Morgan Chase is a federally-insured depository institution that has been and will continue to be the recipient of massive amounts of public assistance. If the bank fails, someone will reach into your pocket to pay for the cleanup. So when they gamble like drunken sailors, it’s everyone’s problem.
Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin gives up U.S. citizenship before making billions from IPO - NY Daily News - Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin gives up U.S. citizenship before making billions from IPO. Eduardo Saverin will avoid U.S. capital gains tax by becoming citizen of Singapore
Digital Divide: If You're Reading This, You're One of the Lucky Ones [INFOGRAPHIC] - Mashable - There are vast gaps between Internet accessibility in cities and rural areas, racial disparities in Internet access (which isn’t as pronounced as it was a decade ago), and the growing gap between rich and poor and its influence on who goes without computers or Internet access. Beyond that, you’ll see more information about how the U.S. lags behind other countries in Internet technology, broadband speed and access. This is the part that has us scratching our heads. Why do you think the United States lags behind less-wealthy countries when it comes to Internet access?
FSU Big 12 fascination is about $EC envy – Open Mike – Orlando Sentinel - Make no mistake about why so many FSU fans, boosters, coaches and trustees want to explore the possibility of leaving the ACC for the Big 12. It is all about trying to keep up financially with the big boys in SEC. Nothing more. Nothing less. “Conference alignment and TV is where all the money’s at,” FSU coach Jimbo Fisher said before a speaking engagement Saturday at the Seminole Club of Greater Orlando. “The powers-that-be need to do what’s best for Florida State.”
