Tuesday Morning Oct 18, 2011 - Seoul Incheon International Airport
Update on my trip to Seoul Korea.
I'm about to leave Korea after ten days. It's been a great trip.
I have a fear of flying so the 14hr trip coming here wasn't a joy but Korean Air was great.
There is also a 14hr time difference so getting used to that was a challenge. We hit the ground running.
Our first day was spent with the family of Mr. Kim who owns Tong-In International Moving Company and Tong In Art Gallery, a very important and longtime business man in Seoul. They took us out for traditional Korean food. Whew..very good but very spicy. Mr. Kim likes his rice wine.
They showed us their gallery and the more traditional Seoul. He is and will be an important contact in Korea.
The next day started early at Hyundai Automotive Headquarters. We met the upper management team and learned their international vision of their booming company. They are very dedicated to growing Hyundai. During the next few days we visited Hyundai Steel Co. and their auto manufacturing plant in Ulsan. The best was seeing their research and development auto center where they have over ten thousand engineers and got to drive cars of the future.
During these five days we got to eat traditional Korean food ... Did I tell you how spicy it is?
We were blessed to have dinner with Vice Chairman Chung whose family founded Hyundai.
We then flew to Jeju Island for a days rest.
It rained all day and when we were leaving the next morning the sun came out and it was beautiful.
During this stay I was introduced to Korean karaoke...they love their karaoke.
I spent the next couple of days talking to manufacturing companies about The Great City of Dothan, including a great meeting with the CEO of a large company who says he is interested in coming to the States. Although nothing concrete came from my meeting, I'm looking forward to continue to foster these great relationships in hopes of positive things for both my company and our wonderful community.
The people of Seoul have been wonderful to Sandy and I. We would highly recommend for you to visit .. as long as you come home to Dothan.
