Help Needed In Solving Cyber Attack Related To Megan Rondini's Rape Case
Posted: September 18, 2017
Someone has found a way to systematically decouple and remove individuals who signed up as "Followers" on my Facebook page. More than a hundred such "Followers" have been slowly and incrementally decoupled and removed from my Facebook page since the September 8, 2017, vigil for rape victim Megan Rondini. Prior to the vigil, this kind of removal action had never happened in the history of my Facebook account. The affected Facebook users/"Followers" did not request or authorize this removal action.
The decoupling and removal of "Followers" on my Facebook page is the cyber equivalent to a slow leak in a car tire. It is also an act of cyber sabotage or hacking that violates of federal law.
Our internal investigation indicates that this act of cyber sabotage is linked directly to our three months of intense reporting on the Megan Rondini rape case. We experienced a surge of more than 5,000 "Followers" on this page as a result of our coverage of Megan's case. We are the only news service in Alabama that is consistently reporting on developments in Megan's rape case.
The family and supporters of accused rapist Terry Bunn, Jr., were unsuccessful in their prior attempts to have my Facebook account shut down. This "bleed-out" of "Followers" appears to be the implementation of their backup plan. It was detected immediately.
Facebook is also investigating this act of sabotage and they need your help. The results of our investigations will be turned over to federal law enforcement officials.
If you were one of the 17,986 individuals who signed up to "Follow" my Facebook page and you were removed as a "Follower" without requesting this removal action, please notify Facebook and me immediately. You can contact me via a private Facebook message. You should also report your unauthorized removal as a "Follower" to Facebook through its "Report a Problem" portal.
We are fairly confident that the individual(s) responsible for these systematic acts of cyber sabotage will be identified and prosecuted. Whoever engaged in these unauthorized removal actions violated federal cyber securities law. Furthermore, whoever encouraged them to do it is equally guilty of the same criminal offense.
This may be the break we need in getting one of the wrongdoers in the Megan Rondini rape case prosecuted. Please help us find the culprit(s) responsible for these cyber crimes.
Thank you!
