Donald V. Watkins  Megan's case makes it crystal clear that Alabama has no true "leaders". It has individuals who hold important sounding titles in government, universities, and business. These individuals have fan clubs who will support whatever they do or don't do. Our so-called "leaders" usually place their self-interest ahead of the public interests. Many of them place no value on the respect all of us should have for women. None of them has stood up for Megan. They simply do not care about her ordeal. Meanwhile, the GHB trade is thriving in Tuscaloosa. The sexual abuse grows as the "date rape" drug trade thrives.

My job is to report what happened to Megan Rondini and why. One day, a leader will emerge on Alabama's political scene who has the demonstrated courage, personal commitment, and core value system necessary to stop this drug trade and predatory sexual abuse, regardless of the wealth and power of the perpetrators who are involved. Until that day arrives, our spotlight on Megan's case is the only protection our daughters, sisters, mothers, and other females have at The University of Alabama. Until that day comes, this man will rule the streets of Tuscaloosa. Thanks to his family's wealth and connections, he owns the town.
