White House Considers School Police - The Daily Beast - The Obama administration is considering putting $50 million toward funding hundreds of police officers in public schools, according to Senator Barbara Boxer, who presented a plan to Vice President Joe Biden to include in gun policy recommendations to the president. The initiative would give federal money to schools for hiring police officers and purchasing surveillance equipment—close to the NRA's suggestion of armed guards in each school. On Thursday, Biden also suggested it's likely a plan will include “universal background checks” for all gun buyers, as well as a ban on high-capacity ammunition magazines.
