Finebaum leaves WJOX, weighing options – The Trussville Tribune - Scott Buttram - For the first time in more than 20 years, radio listeners will not be able to tune in to Paul Finebaum on Tuesday to hear the popular host pontificate on sports. Finebaum and his network director, Pat Smith, allowed their contracts with WJOX to expire at midnight Monday. - WJOX operations manager Ryan Haney resigned from the Cumulus-owned station Monday as well, according to sources close to the situation. - Sources say the Paul Finebaum Radio Network is considering several opportunities at this time, which include remaining with Sirius satellite radio, moving to ESPN, joining WJOX competitor 97.3 The Zone, or a combination of the listed options. Finebaum has not made a decision on which option he will pursue at this time.

Paul Finebaum Leaves Birmingham's WJOX : Outkick The Coverage - Clay Travis - Paul Finebaum, the afternoon host of Birmingham, Alabama's popular WJOX sports talk radio station, is leaving one of Cumulus radio's Southern sports powerhouses for a big payday from a competing station, 97.3 the Zone owned by Cox Communications. It's a big move in sports talk radio because Finebaum brings in several million dollars a year in ad revenue on one of the highest rated sports talk stations in the country. - Finebaum's show is also simulcast nationwide on Sirius satellite radio, although the present satellite airing leads to minimal additional revenue. (Exactly how the satellite radio component to Finebaum's new deal will work going forward remains to be seen. It's possible that thanks to the popularity of the show satellite could be a substational revenue component in Finebaum's new deal.)

Radio Ink Magazine - Finebaum's Time With Cumulus Is Done - There's also a possibility that Finebaum does his own thing and avoids working for any radio company directly. He may decide to syndicate his show himself and offer it out to affiliates willing to pay top dollar. There are few other sports talkers in that region that know college football as well as Finebaum does.

Finebaum contract gives Cumulus chance to match offer - Birmingham Business Journal - A source close to the popular sports radio host said Finebaum is not interested in entertaining any offers until that 90-day window has passed. Once that window passes, the source said Finebaum and his representatives would evaluate the media landscape and start the process of making a decision about the host's future. - Earlier today, Outkick the Coverage – a popular sports blog – reported Finebaum was leaving WJOX to join Cox Media Group's WZNN 97.3 FM The Zone, which is another Birmingham-based sports talk station. But the source said Finebaum is not entertaining offers from Cox or any other outlets at this time.
