Gary Carter Kid 8 - Tommy Hutton/Your Huttness - The Meck and Jack Graham - Gary's Pastor and Friend. A great day of golf and fellowship.
We were making memories. And The Kid shot the best score. Once Again.
And was teasing everyone in the group.
Happy 63rd Birthday Kid 8. I remember when you told me about being in Daytona Beach on your Birthday in 1974 and you were watching TV when Hank Aaron Hit 715 and Broke Babe Ruth's Home Run Record.
April the 8th 1954 - The Lord Jesus sent one of his special angels to earth who excelled in everything he chose to do. He made the cover of Sports Illustrated a number of times as Baseball's Best Catcher - An 11-Time MLB AllStar - 2 Time All Star MVP - 1986 NY Mets World Series Champion - Entered Baseball's Hall of Fame in 2003.
God gave Gary Carter his special platform because he knew he could trust him.
The Kid touched many, countless lives with his radiant smile - personality and testimony that he not only shared but lived every day. Kid 8 entered God's Hall of Fame on Feb 16, 2012 - Where The Score Lasts Forever. The vote was unanimous.
I'm grateful Pastor Jack Graham - my longtime great friend - introduced me to Gary Carter. Just like Pastor Graham - Kid 8 impacted my life and included me in his life and encouraged me. He always had TIME.
I will never forget going to the yard w Kid 8 and going into the clubhouse with him in New York: He said Meck -- "Just act like you belong." I did and thanks to Gary Carter I did belong. He taught me so much. Thanks for always including me in your life Kid.
I think about his wonderful wife Sandy and their great kids Christy, Kimmy and DJ. I'm sure this a tough day for them. They are the best. Wonderful Family.
Wonderful Man - Gary Carter. Wonderful Memories Kid 8.
Nobody Better Than The Kid.
I will always be grateful Kid that you and Sandy flew all the way from Los Angeles to my hometown Dothan, Al when my mom fell and died from a skull fracture on my birthday. And you were a pall bearer at her memorial service.
Just a week after you'd been in Dothan for an autograph party. She loved meeting you and visiting with you.
Kid - Thanks for inviting me to come to the Palm Beaches and stay at your home as I was struggling with her sudden death. You and Sandy and your family really helped me so much and encouraged me through a very tough time in my life. I will never forget how you included me - lifted my spirits and gave me hope.
Kid - Thanks for always having TIME for me and many others. And showing us all - TIME spells LOVE - Everything Else Is Just Talk.
Wish we could all tee it up again. And watch your rocket drives.
And listen to your memorable one liners.
Wish we could go to the yard today. And hang out.
Meck
