Report: Alabama AG Luther Strange Tapped for Sessions' Senate Seat - Newsmax - Greg Richter - Alabama Republicans had tried in the past 24 hours to convince Bentley to appoint someone else since Strange's office is believed to be currently investigating the governor over a sex scandal. Bentley, however, declined to change his mind.
