Michael Wood of the Leon County Sheriff’s Office said surveillance video confirmed that it was Winston who left the grocery store’s premises. Wood said that when deputies arrived at Winston’s residence a few hours later, after midnight, Winston was “very cooperative” and acknowledged his misstep. Winston told deputies that he realized after arriving at home that he had forgotten to pay but that he had not made an effort to contact Publix or to return to the store to buy the items.
