Tournament perspective: Reasons NCAA basketball has been down - USATODAY - Eric Prisbell - Televising this NCAA tournament in black and white would be appropriate after a regular season in which offenses turned the clock back decades. Teams shot a composite 43%, on pace to be the worst since 1965, and averaged just 67.6 points per game, which would tie for the lowest since 1952. - As fans nationwide gather to watch 16 games today and 48 by Sunday evening, one uncomfortable fact must be acknowledged: the quality of the games, which have not been easy on the eyes this season.
