Series could feature MVP matchup - San Francisco Chronicle - John Shea - It could happen this year, though we won't know until the MVP results are announced next month. The 108th World Series opens Wednesday, and Posey and Cabrera are the centerpieces of the Giants' and Tigers' lineups, though neither has played up to par in the postseason.
