Former Gov. Don Siegelman says his "heart is broken" for his supporters | al.com -The court declined separate requests from Siegelman and co-defendant Richard Scrushy to review their 2006 convictions in a bribery case. Prosecutors alleged Scrushy bought a seat on a state health board by arranging $500,000 in donations to Siegelman's 1999 campaign to persuade voters to establish a state lottery. The petition for Supreme Court review was one of Siegelman's final appeal avenues to try to avoid being sent back to federal prison to finish his sentence.
