Rob Portman: Top Republican senator shocks party by reversing his opposition to same-sex marriage after his son told him he is gay | Mail Online - Prominent Republican Sen. Rob Portman was attacked by a torrent of angry voters on Friday after he announced in a shocking reversal that he supports gay marriage. - Portman, who was on Mitt Romney's short list of running mates in 2012, made the announcement on CNN Thursday and in an op-ed in The Columbus Dispatch, becoming the first Republican senator to publicly embrace the right of same-sex couples to marry. He said he changed his mind on the issue after his 21-year-old son, Will, revealed to him two years ago that he is gay.

Thanks Mayor Mike Schmitz and Matt Parker (Chamber President) for working so hard (for many months) putting the deal together to bring this very successful, family-owned, international business to Dothan - creating hundreds and hundreds of good paying jobs for Dothan and the Wiregrass. The deal is knocking on the door and we are grateful Mayor Mike and Matt are still at the table doing their best to keep the airport control tower open (regardless) and seal the deal. I'm looking forward to the announcement .. probably not as much as Mayor Mike and Matt Parker.
Mayor Mike also shares about his incredible, grueling journey [with his son, Michael) hiking up the highest free standing mountain in the world and reaching the summit - the top of Mount Kilimanjaro - 19,341 ft. --- Meck
