Dothan Mayor Mike Schmitz Re-Elected Mayor of Dothan, Ala. - Unopposed for August Elections. Filing deadline was today, June 25th.
This is the first time in many years (25 to 30 - maybe many more) that a Dothan mayor was re-elected - unopposed. Go Go Go.
Four years ago Mayor Mike Schmitz was elected Dothan Mayor for his first term with 86% of the vote defeating Keith Seagle.

Suit against Dothan commissioner, others going to mediation - Dothan Eagle - Jim Cook - According to the suit, Baxley told the plaintiffs they would be able to regain their property when they repaid the loans. The suit alleges Baxley facilitated transfers of a deed from Sampson to Griffin. The suit also alleges Baxley misrepresented the status of the deed on one of the properties when a bank inquired about it concerning a mortgage Griffin was seeking on the property. The suit makes claims of reckless misrepresentation, willful misrepresentation and tortuous interference with contract against Baxley and his firm.
