3/11/2013: The Meck Radio Show with Mayor Mike Schmitz from Washington D.C. talking about jobs and meetings with Congress. (Efforts re Dothan Airport Control Tower).

Thanks Mayor Mike Schmitz and Matt Parker (Chamber President) for working so hard (for many months) putting the deal together to bring this very successful, family-owned, international business to Dothan - creating hundreds and hundreds of good paying jobs for Dothan and the Wiregrass. The deal is knocking on the door and we are grateful Mayor Mike and Matt are still at the table doing their best to keep the airport control tower open (regardless) and seal the deal. I'm looking forward to the announcement .. probably not as much as Mayor Mike and Matt Parker.

Mayor Mike also shares about his incredible, grueling journey [with his son, Michael) hiking up the highest free standing mountain in the world and reaching the summit - the top of Mount Kilimanjaro - 19,341 ft. --- Meck

Legislators behind Alabama Accountability Act have kids in private schools but that's also been true of some opponents | al.com -"I think it matters and should be noted that a majority of those who were in a key position on this bill have their children already in private schools, or did, and I think it at least raises the possibility of a conflict for them, if not a bias toward private schools," said Henry Mabry, executive secretary of the Alabama Education Association, which is opposed to the law and has sought to block it in the courts.

Pope Francis: His name reflects ‘his ministry for the poor’ - The Washington Post - “The name is absolutely incredible. Saint Francis is the saint of the poor. He’s the saint that’s known to stand up for peace and for justice,” LeCompte said. Of the new pope, he said: “He’s been walking the walk. It’s a different kind of thinking in the church when you give up some of the wealth and privilege and try to be as much as possible in solidarity with the poor.”
