History may favor the underdog Irish, but Bama is too good | Mark Bradley - AJC - Notre Dame has broken 30 in only four of its 12 games. It ranks 74th nationally in scoring offense. Its defense is match for Bama’s; its offense is not. The Tide, who rushed for 350 yards against Georgia, might not get half that against the Irish, but Alabama does find ways to score. (It has mustered 30 or more points in 11 of its 13 games, LSU and Texas A&M being the exceptions.) - It would not be surprising to see this championship game finish 17-10. It would, however, be surprising if Notre Dame had the 17. Precedent favors the underdog, but reality, as ever, favors Alabama.
Remember the 67 Republicans in House of Representatives who turned their backs on Hurricane Sandy victims - NY Daily News - Mike Lupica - The worst of the phonies come from Florida, Alabama and Mississippi, who came running for money in 2005 in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. We bailed them out then, but they tell us to drop dead -- There are 67 Republicans from the House of Representatives who voted against the first round of federal money to pay for flood insurance claims from Hurricane Sandy. You ought to remember every one of them, all these elected officials who seem to have all the qualities of dogs except loyalty. --You have Mo Brooks of Alabama, who practically went door-to-door in his state after tornados to explain to them how to best get their federal money. -- Perhaps the worst phony of all of them is Rep. Steven Palazzo, out of Mississippi’s Fourth Congressional District, which happens to be situated on the Gulf Coast.
'Bunch of jackasses:' Former New York Sen. Al D’Amato rips 67 GOP congressmen who voted 'no' to Hurricane Sandy relief bill - NY Daily News - Even more galling, said D’Amato, many of these Republican refuseniks are from states that received billions of dollars in aid after Hurricane Katrina — no questions asked. -- These 67 Republican leaders voted 'NO' to help Sandy victims. The News is providing their names and phone numbers in case you had anything you wanted to say to them.
