Many pundit predictions favor Obama - USATODAY - Nate Silver, whose FiveThirtyEight blog has been much discussed this election season, says the president now has an 86.3% chance of winning the Electoral College on Tuesday against Republican challenger Mitt Romney. Silver projects around 307 electoral votes for Obama; 270 are needed to win. - Meanwhile, the "crystal ball" at the University of Virginia Center for Politics predicts a 290-248 electoral victory for the president.

Romney is idolized by his wife and sons, and in his close Mormon circle of friends, but beyond that, there is an intensity vacuum.
