3 Alabama newspapers cutting about 400 jobs - WSFA.com - Alabama's three largest newspapers and their website announced they are cutting about 400 employees. The Birmingham News, The Huntsville Times, the Press-Register in Mobile and al.com started notifying employees Tuesday whether they would be offered positions with two new operating companies. The changes come as the newspapers plan to reduce their days of publication from seven to three this fall and put more emphasis on the al.com website.

The Justice Department made its first moves against Tremor Enterprises, the horse-breeding operation that they allege was used to launder the drug money, sending helicopters and hundreds of law enforcement agents to the company’s stables in Ruidoso, New Mexico and its ranch in Oklahoma.
