Bubba Watson Changes Number After “Mike & Mike” Harassment - Yardbarker - According to Watson, he has been inundated with phone calls from people that he doesn’t even know and who shouldn’t even have his number. He went on the Scott Van Pelt Show this afternoon to discuss his Masters victory and the cell phone issues. Bubba went on to say that the last straw to motivate him to finally change his number came from a radio show that he wouldn’t name. After arriving home after 3 AM he said he received 40 calls at 6 AM from this radio show and that was enough to cause him to make the change. Russello joked that he hoped it wasn’t “Mike & Mike” and Bubba indicated that it was, but he didn’t want to “call you guys (ESPN) out”.
Take heart, Atlanta: We no longer lead any league in stupidity | Mark Bradley - AJC - Our sporting fortunes might not be all that exciting at the moment, but we’ve gotten past the point (at least for the moment) where they’re utterly stupid. For utterly stupid, we must turn elsewhere in the South. • An SEC head coach wrecked his motorcycle with his girlfriend aboard, and he did it, appropriately enough, on April Fool’s Day. He failed to mention the girlfriend’s presence to his boss (or, presumably, to his wife and children). Apparently this young woman was so dear to the coach that he not only hired her but gave her a $20,000 bonus. The coach was fired Tuesday night.
Bubba Watson’s Pink Ping Driver Will Go on the Market - Yardbarker - Now you can get in on the action. Ping will make 5,000 of the limited edition G20 drivers with the pink shaft and head (stop giggling) available for the public to purchase. The clubs will sell for $430, and Ping will donate five percent of the proceeds to the campaign. In addition to that, Watson launched “Bubba & Friends Drive to a Million” in January, with the hope of raising $1 million for various charities this year through the help of other golfers and donations from the public. The Ping campaign is a part of Watson’s overall initiative.
Arkansas Razorbacks fire Bobby Petrino as coach - (VIDEO) ESPN - Arkansas fired coach Bobby Petrino on Tuesday, publicly dressing him down for unfairly hiring his mistress and intentionally misleading his boss about everything from their relationship to her presence at the motorcycle accident that ultimately cost him his job. Athletic director Jeff Long announced his decision at an evening news conference and laid out a stunning laundry list of misdeeds against the man he hired away from the Atlanta Falcons four years ago.
MARK BRADLEY NAILED IT LAST FRIDAY: Bobby Petrino: On leave, in trouble and maybe out of a job | Mark Bradley - AJC - Of greater concern to athletic director Jeff Long is surely this: Did the coach hire the 25-year-old Jessica Dorrell — a press release was issued just last week — only because of her expertise in “student-athlete development”? (She’d previously been an Arkansas volleyball player and a fundraiser for the Razorback Foundation.) In announcing her appointment, Petrino is quoted as saying: “[Dorrell] is familiar with what the University of Arkansas can offer.” (In other news, Dorrell is reportedly engaged to the director of operation for the Arkansas swimming and diving team. The wedding date is set for June 9.)
