Santorum in heated exchange with reporter - CBS News Video - In Full: After a rally at the South Hills Country Club in Wisconsin, Rick Santorum fired back at a reporter in response to his statement that "Romney is the worst Republican in the country."
Who's afraid of Louisville and Pitino? Not Calipari's 'Cats | Mark Bradley - AJC - In the mind of Kentucky fans, there could be no greater indignity than the thought of these mighty Wildcats arriving at the 2012 Final Four and being undone not just by Louisville but by a Louisville team coached by Rick Pitino. It would be worse than Christian Laettner undoing the Unforgettables as coached by Pitino. - “There will be people in Kentucky who will have a nervous breakdown if they lose to us,” he told reporters Saturday after his Cardinals overhauled Florida to take the West Regional. “They’ve got to put the fences up on the bridges.”
Can Drinking Make You Conservative? and Other Questions About the Political Brain | Chris Mooney | Rolling Stone - In other words – so the argument goes – thinking like a liberal takes more effort, more focused concentration. (And this isn’t just another case of liberals being smug; this is serious research.) Consider, for example, the conservative belief that the unemployed are out of work mainly because they're lazy. It’s simple and easy – low effort – to make poverty the fault of the individual person, who failed to work hard and take responsibility for his or her actions. It's much harder and more complicated to consider the large array of situational and institutional factors that create poverty in our society, that make it difficult or impossible for poor people to get out of poverty
Rick Santorum's 'Obamaville': It's Mourning in America | Julian Brookes | Rolling Stone - Rick Santorum is out with a new campaign video, and it's deeply weird. The minute-long film imagines a small American town –"Obamaville" – two years from now if the president is reelected. Basically, the Soviets have taken over; religious freedom has been snuffed out, gas prices are driving people to suicide, paint is peeling off walls, and some woman keeps telling everyone to shush. As a pure expression of right-wing paranoia, it's admirably concise. It's also one more indication that Santorum's campaign has jumped the shark.
New NY Jets backup quarterback Tim Tebow handles press conference with class and humor, something starting QB Mark Sanchez wouldn't be able to pull off - NY Daily News - Bob Raissman
The Renegade Republicans - NYTimes.com - Thomas B. Edsall - Conservative people of faith are playing a larger role in shaping the contours and affecting the trajectory of the Republican presidential nomination contest than at any time since they began pouring out of the pews and into the precincts in the late 1970s. - The race issue goes beyond South Carolina: Ron Brownstein described in the National Journal what he called “an epic failure by the G.O.P. contenders to attract and engage minority voters. White voters, especially older ones, are routinely casting 90 percent or more of the votes in G.O.P. contests this year.”
Expect new NY Jet Tim Tebow to get on a holy roll - NY Daily News - Flip Bondy - The presence of three dozen television cameras and 250 media members spoke considerably louder on Monday than Tim Tebow, whose reedy voice doesn’t always carry as far as his wobbly passes. This was a big media event at the Jets’ practice facility in Florham Park, testimony to what is surely Tebow’s manifest destiny when it comes to the Jets’ starting quarterback job.
Cosell Talks: Tebow, Sanchez, & New York, New York : NFL Films Blog - Upon reflection, I believe Tim Tebow was traded to the right team. This is a football opinion, not one based on his marketing or cultural icon value. In many ways, Rex Ryan and the New York Jets are contrarians. Their profile runs counter to the accepted notion that the NFL is a passing league driven by the play of the quarterback. Their track record supports this point. In 2009, Mark Sanchez’s first season, the Jets were one half away from going to the Super Bowl. Sanchez was not very good as a rookie, but the Jets led the league in rushing and total defense.
