Donald V Watkins: We are told that Luther Strange is giddy today. He is about to get his dream job -- a U.S.Senate seat -- courtesy of Robert Bentley, the "target" of a state criminal investigation.

The Moment of Truth is Upon Us
(Updated at 11:40 p.m. CST)
Today, Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions will be confirmed as the next Attorney General of the United States. Unless Alabama Governor Robert Bentley or Attorney General Luther Strange loses his nerve and backs out of the sellout deal Strange made with Bentley in exchange for the gubernatorial appointment to Sessions' vacant senate seat, Luther Strange will become the next U.S. Senator from Alabama.

Right now, both men are holding firm to their unsavory deal. We are told that Luther Strange is giddy today. He is about to get his dream job -- a U.S.Senate seat -- courtesy of Robert Bentley, the "target" of a state criminal investigation. Strange traded everything the good people of Alabama had earned for this appointment, including their right to honest government services. The moment of truth for Strange and Bentley is rapidly approaching.

Bentley knew that Strange is not a man of principles and that he desperately wants the senate seat. Furthermore, Bentley wants an opportunity to appoint the next attorney general, right now. An appointed attorney general virtually guarantees Bentley that the state investigation into the widespread public corruption and ethics violations practiced by the governor and his married girlfriend, Rebekah Mason, will be handled to Bentley's liking.

Even if Bentley reneges on the deal, the disgusting episode of Luther Strange on his knees and begging racketeering kingpin Robert Bentley for the appointment to Sessions' seat is too much to bear. It has already compromised Strange as a prosecutor. After all, no one wants a weak-kneed prosecutor who was willing to bow down to a arrogant public corruption crook and his mistress/girlfriend/partner in crime. The stench from Strange's bootlicking and butt-kissing exercise is too much for us to smell.
Kyle Whitmire's article below sums up the sentiments of most Alabamians on the Robert Bentley-Luther Strange unholy alliance. Kyle has asked, "How could AG Luther Strange be this dumb?"
Kyle, Luther Strange is not dumb. He's just a run-of-the-mill political prostitute who is high on an ecstasy concoction of greed and self-interest.
