While the tidal wave of bad news continues for Alabama Governor Robert Bentley, the affairs of State have come to a complete standstill. Alabama has a “Bentley” problem. By now, everybody in America realizes that Alabama voters elected and re-elected a scam artist, habitual liar, racketeering kingpin, and power drunken sexual pervert as their governor.
What is worse, Bentley has fallen into a psychotic state of mind where he is erratic, delusional, and paranoid. The pressure from his growing "sex for power" and public corruption scandal with Rebekah Caldwell Mason has reached a boiling point and has paralyzed state government.
Despite calls for his resignation from every major media organization in the state, Bentley has refused to step down. To the shock and surprise of close allies, Bentley is prepared to take the entire state of Alabama down with him. Like a militant jihadist, Bentley has convinced himself that he is on a "holy" mission from God to serve the people of Alabama.
The governor's remaining staffers and cabinet members know he is delusional. They are terrified of him. They say, "yes", to whatever Bentley asks of them, whether it makes sense or not. Not surprisingly, Bentley, who is hopelessly trapped in a tangled web of deception, is blaming all of his public corruption activities on subordinates and others. He is acting like “a field general who shoots his own soldiers”, claims one Bentley insider.
Today, Bentley stands toe-to-toe with drug dealers, mafia bosses, con men, pimps, third-world dictators, and other despots who use "burner" cell phones, personal couriers, money laundering schemes, habitual deception, and secret safe deposit boxes to run his criminal enterprise. Like other hardcore criminals in this category, Bentley had a mistress on the side.
Bentley has lavished Rebekah with Las Vegas concerts, romantic dinners at the Winton Blount Mansion, VIP treatment at big-time football games, out-of-state trips for vacationing and shopping, and other exotic experiences, all of which were courtesy of taxpayers, campaign donors, and “dark money”. These two lovers became high-flying jetsetters, thanks to other people’s money.
Bentley has used dark money connections, dark secrets, and Serve Alabama “hush money” as a means to silence Alabama Senate President Del Marsh and the huge block of legislators who share the governor’s propensity for living large on other people’s money and for enjoying the company of women who are not their wives.
Last month, Bentley fired Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Secretary Spencer Collier and replaced him with Stan Stabler. The new top cop wasted no time in lying for Bentley regarding a recently reported incident in which a state helicopter was dispatched to pick up Bentley’s wallet from home and fly it to him at the beach. Unbelievably, Stabler elevated the wallet retrieval to a “security” matter that required trooper transportation by the governor’s executive protection detail at a cost of thousands of tax dollars.
Stabler was not promoted to run the ALEA; he was promoted to run the cover-up of Bentley’s criminal activities. Stabler is a far more dangerous man than the governor because he is a marginally qualified lawman with an oversized ego who has gone “bad”. Bentley is just a delusional, crooked, sexually perverted politician with an insatiable appetite for Jonathan Mason's wife and an unbreakable addiction for using other people’s money to romance her.
Bentley is using Stabler and his law enforcement agency to smear federal prosecution witnesses, obstruct justice, tamper with other potential witnesses, falsify government records, and interfere with the ongoing federal investigation. At this juncture, Stabler has become a willing participant in Bentley’s racketeering scheme.
As directed by Bentley, Stabler released a statement Friday blasting Spencer Collier’s confirmation of wrongdoing and illegal conduct by Bentley. Noticeably absent from Stabler’s statement was any announcement by him that ALEA would be investigating Bentley’s in-your-face public corruption.
As we announced exclusively on April 9, 2016, federal prosecutors in Washington have decided to expedite the initiation of public corruption charges against Bentley and Mason. Bentley is aware of this Justice Department decision. This is why Bentley will not discuss any aspect of his "sex for power" and public corruption scandal, why he publicly scolds reporters who question him about the scandal, and why he is writing checks to cover his past transgressions.
Prosecutors have determined that the Bentley-Mason public corruption was widespread, engrained, and flamboyant. Staffers who tried to reign in this corruption were chastised by the governor and, in some cases, fired and later smeared.
Mason, a mother of three young children, is trying to stay out of jail by cooperating with the federal probe. The Mason family is also struggling to pay her mounting legal bills. Bentley is trying to keep Rebekah loyal to him by continuing to pay her husband, Jonathan Mason, a fat salary as the director of Serve Alabama.
Our Facebook news team has confirmed “street” reports that House Speaker Mike Hubbard is seeking a plea deal with state and federal prosecutors to spill the beans on Bentley in exchange for an 18-month sentence in Hubbard's public corruption case. Earlier this year, Bentley tried to derail the Hubbard prosecution in an effort to avoid taking the witness stand as a prosecution witness. This effort was unsuccessful. Hubbard’s defense attorneys were prepared to expose Bentley’s love affair with Rebekah.
The entire state of Alabama is in a waiting game right now. Until federal prosecutors charge Bentley and his co-conspirators, the state is effectively shut down. Bentley’s days are consumed with conferences with his criminal defense lawyers. Alabama legislators have “flat-lined”. Nearly all of them share Bentley’s playboy lifestyle while “working” in Montgomery. As such, they, too, have fallen completely silent on the Bentley-Mason scandal.
This state of paralysis, together with the governor’s increasingly erratic, delusional, and paranoid behavior, has prompted federal prosecutors to expedite the initiation of criminal charges against Bentley, Mason, and other participants in the governor’s racketeering scheme. It is no longer a question of whether Bentley will be charged, arrested and tried as a RICO kingpin, but a matter of when the charges will be filed.
