Ganis, who has done consulting work with Major League Baseball, says any notion the Steinbrenners are looking to sell "is absolutely, patently false." But everything has a price. What offer might pique the Steinbrenners' interest? A major league official familiar with franchise valuations told USA TODAY Sports that if Steinbrenner were offered $4 billion, he'd have to take it, though the price could vary based on economic conditions.
