Adam Bailey was murdered on August 7, 2016, after he was unobtrusively administered an overdose of GHB that was slipped in his drink while he was sitting at a bar with Caleb Payne Legrone earlier that evening. Key evidence regarding Adam's murder appears in (a) text messages between Legrone and Victoria Love, (b) Adam's medical records on the night he was drugged, (c) post mortem photographs, and (d) the 911 call to police in his case.
Adam's murder occurred after he witnessed a blindfolded and physically restrained underage girl being taken from a vehicle and carried into a Tuscaloosa warehouse by his old friend Brett Patrick Davis and Davis' accomplices. At the time, Davis was also a close friend and drug trafficking partner of Caleb Legrone. Adam tried unsuccessfully to intervene on this girl's behalf. This effort cost Adam his life.
After Adam passed out from his GHB overdose, he was strangled. Even though Adam's autopsy report stated that an examination of his neck was "unremarkable", post mortem photographs taken at the funeral home showed the presence of clearly visible choke marks on both sides of Adam's neck. Davis later admitted that these choke marks were made by Legrone.
An analysis of Adam's blood chemistry, as documented in his medical records, reveals that he had been dead for approximately fifty minutes before paramedics were called to his Northport home.
Victoria Love, who had gone out to dinner with Adam earlier that evening, told police that Adam started acting "weird" while they were out and he eventually passed out on the way home.
Victoria contacted Legrone when she arrived at Adam's house to tell him about Adam's condition. Legrone sent a text message to her stating that he (Legrone) and his accomplices had made up a false story to cover up for what really happened to Adam earlier that night. After speaking with Legrone, Victoria Love left Adam alone in his truck and went home.
Legrone and Mathew Hartley, Adam's roommate, arrived at the house before the police were called. Legrone is the person who initiated the 911 call to police. Adam had been dead for fifty minutes before the call was made.

During the 911 call, Legrone confirmed that Adam had no breathe or pulse. Legrone repeatedly told the 911 operator that Adam had taken Xanax. A toxicology report would later determine that traces of Xanax and other medications used to treat his attention-deficit/hyperactive disorder were found in Adam's body.
When the 911 operator asked Legrone (at 4:02) whether Adam took the Xanax "intentionally or accidentally", Legrone quickly said (at 4:07), "accidentally". In a low voice, an accomplice in the background encouraged Legrone (at 4:08) to answer, "it's a suicide". A voice then whispers (at 4:14), "come on, motherfucker".
Paramedics arrived at the scene approximately six minutes after the 911 call was placed. Adam was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa where he was placed on a respirator for six days. On August 14, 2016, Adam was taken off the respirator and declared dead.
The Tuscaloosa Metro Homicide Unit investigated Adam Bailey's death and closed the case on March 10, 2017, without determining what substance cause Adam's fatal overdose or how the choke marks on his neck occurred. To date, no arrests have been made in connection with Adam's murder.
The police file in Adam Bailey's murder case sorely lacks basic detective work. It evidences a deliberate effort by police to ignore a host of tangible evidence pointing to Adam's murder.
Instead of reopening Adam Bailey's murder case, the Tuscaloosa Police Department has mobilized considerable resources and efforts toward arresting Tim Bailey, Adam's father, on a bogus misdemeanor charge of harassing communications. Police will not disclose to Tim Bailey who was allegedly harassed. The alleged "victim" of this harassment is believed to be a member of Caleb Legrone's inner circle who is well connected to local police and District Attorney Hays Webb's former law partner.

Instead of reviving its botched homicide investigation involving Adam Bryant Bailey, a 24-year-old man who was murdered on August 7, 2016, after he witnessed sex trafficking in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, the Tuscaloosa Police Department ("TPD") has decided to spend its valuable time and limited resources trying to serve an arrest warrant on Adam's father for a bogus misdemeanor charge of harassing communication.
TPD Investigator Ritamarie H. Thomason sent Tim Bailey, the grieving father of Adam Bailey, a letter postmarked November 29, 2017, advising him to contact her at his earliest convenience. Mr. Bailey contacted Thomason on December 4, 2017, to inquire about the nature of her letter. She responded the same day as follows:
"Mr. Bailey,
I've been trying to reach you to inform you that you've had a warrant for your arrest for Harassing Communications since 11/27/17. I apologize for having to bring you this kind of news right before the holidays. Just come to TPD Headquarters (3801 Trevor S Phillips Av – open 24 hours a day) and you'll be released in an hour or so with a court date. If memory serves, the bond on your warrant is $300, but you can call TPD Headquarters (205-349-2121) or the Tuscaloosa Municipal Court (205-248-5330) to confirm the bond amount.
Again, I'm sorry for the difficult news,
Inv. Thomason"
When Mr. Bailey asked Thomason to email him a copy of the warrant, she told him:
"I checked with a sergeant; he advised that I am unable to e-mail you a copy of the warrant. I believe your attorney will be able to obtain a copy of the warrant from the courthouse, though. When do you think you're going to be able to come to TPD Headquarters to turn yourself in?"
In a dramatic turn of events, the TPD has decided that it is easier to make a criminal out of the outspoken father of a murder victim than it is to pursue criminal justice against Adam's well-connected murder and his accomplices.

Adam Bailey was murdered after he inadvertently saw a blindfolded and physically restrained underage girl being taken from a vehicle and carried into a Tuscaloosa warehouses by his old friend Brett Patrick Davis and his accomplices. Davis was a local drug dealer at the time. Adam tried unsuccessfully to intervene on this girl's behalf and it cost him his life.
Witness statements and other independent forensic evidence in the case indicate that Adam Bailey was the victim of a GHB overdose and strangulation that occurred on August 7, 2017. Post mortem photographs show the presence of choke marks on both sides of Adam's neck.
A recent review of the blood chemistry reflected in Adam Bailey's medical records revealed that he had been dead for about one hour before EMT were called to the scene of his Northport home by his so-called "friends". Earlier that day, Adam had been slipped a fatal overdose of GHB while he was in the presence of Caleb Payne Legrone. Caleb is a close friend and drug trafficking partner of Brett Davis.
After the drugging, Adam went out to dinner with Victoria Love and Joseph Alan Cook. According to Love, Adam started acting "weird" and eventually passed out. She drove him to his home in Northport.
Police records show that Victoria Love then contacted Legrone to tell him about Adam's condition. Legrone sent a text message to her stating that he (Legrone) and his accomplices had made up a false story to cover up for what really happened to Adam earlier that night. After speaking with Legrone, Victoria Love left Adam alone in his truck and went home.
Legrone and Mathew Hartley, Adam's roommate, arrived at the house before the police were called. Legrone told police he tried to revive Adam once they got him inside the house.
After police officers were called to the scene, Adam was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa where he was placed on a respirator for six days. On August 14, 2016, Adam was taken off the respirator and declared dead.
Legrone and Hartley were contacted for a follow up interview about the highly questionable text message Legrone sent to Victoria Love. Legrone never responded. Hartley did respond, but he wanted an attorney present. The police file does not show any follow-up interviews with Legrone or Hartley.

Preferential Treatment By Police
The shady cast of characters involved in Tuscaloosa's growing GHB drug trafficking ring is tied to University of Alabama honors student Megan Rondini's July 2, 2015, rape case and Adam Bailey's murder case. Many of these individuals appear to enjoy preferential treatment and special protection within Tuscaloosa's law enforcement community.
For example, Joseph Alan Cook, who was with Victoria Love and Adam when they started out to dinner, is a friend and drug trafficking partner of Caleb Legrone. Cook was also one of 50 heroin dealers arrested by federal law enforcement agents in September of 2013 in connection with two Tuscaloosa overdose deaths. Cook was back on the street in record time.
On August 1, 2016, Cook got arrested on drug-related charges by Birmingham police. He was quickly released. One week later, Cook appeared on the scene with Adam on the night of his murder, via a drug overdose and strangulation.
Stefan Swindoll, another close friend of Legrone, threatened Tim Bailey after he raised questions about Adam's suspicious death. Swindoll is currently on probation in Pickens County, Alabama until January 2018 in connection with his guilty plea to harassing communications directed to the Bailey family.
The drug trafficking ring operated by Caleb Legrone, Brett Patrick Davis, Joseph Alan Cook, Stefan Swindoll, and their accomplices supplied the man Megan Rondini named as her rapist -- Terry Bunn "Sweet T" Bunn, Jr. -- with his personal supply of GHB at the time of Megan's reported rape in 2015.
Police Action Re-Victimizes Crime Victims
There appears to be an emerging and disturbing pattern and practice within Tuscaloosa's law enforcement community of re-victimizing crime victims in high profile cases involving certain well-connected criminal suspects.
In Megan Rondini's rape case, a police videotape captured Sheriff's investigator Adam Jones threatening Megan with felony charges for actions she took to escape Sweet T's house after the sexual assault. Megan committed suicide after Sweet T escaped criminal justice in her rape case.
In Adam Bailey's murder case, the outspoken father of the murder victim now has a bogus warrant for his arrest hanging over his head. Meanwhile, Adam's murderer and his accomplices are walking around free.
Finally, the TPD has made no effort to reopen its botched murder investigation. Its sole focus now is to crack down on Tim Bailey -- Adam's father and Caleb Legrone's crime victim.
