News Corp. Could Face 500 Claims - The Daily Beast - No matter how much we may want it to, News Corp. won’t be leaving the spotlight anytime soon. Lawyers for both Rupert Murdoch’s media company and victims of phone hacking said in court Friday that the company will likely face a total of 500 civil suits related to phone hacking, only about 110 of which have been filed or settled so far. The cost of battling the civil claims has put a significant drain on News Corp. since the hacking activity first came to light, and the company reported in early May that it had spent $167 million on legal fees related to the cases.

Georgia-Auburn game is safe | AJC - Tim Tucker - The Georgia-Auburn football rivalry, which dates to 1892, will continue. The SEC today approved a 6-1-1 format for conference football scheduling in 2013 and beyond — that is, six division games, one permanent cross-division game and one rotating division game. This means Auburn will remain on Georgia’s schedule annually. Georgia had strongly advocated a 6-1-1 schedule format, but some other schools, most vocally LSU, had argued this week that permanent cross-division opponents should be eliminated from the new format. In the end, the 6-1-1 format passed overwhelmingly, according to SEC commissioner Mike Slive.

What small business can learn from Google – USATODAY.com - By Julie Clow, Special to CNBC.com - When I talk to people about Google and its organizational culture, they are equally fascinated and hopeless, believing that the magic behind Google lies in the deep revenue streams that make it possible to feed its employees three meals a day. Small businesses, especially, tend to dismiss Google as a wholly unattainable model for running a business. However, I learned core lessons at Google that transformed the way I look at problem solving and strategic thinking. There were statements that I heard early and often that guided decision-making at every level of the organization. These mantras are at the core of innovation for Google but translate readily to any business to create agility, employee engagement and ultimately, stronger business results. Google's success owes far more to these mantras than the food in the cafes, and even better, they cost no money to implement.
