APR, Matrix Team Up For More Character Assassination in the Megan Rondini Rape Case

The Alabama Political Reporter ("APR") and its ally, Montgomery, Alabama-based PR firm Matrix, LLC, teamed up yesterday to launch another ill-conceived attempt at assassinating the character of deceased rape victim Megan Rondini. APR reported in a story yesterday that 20-year-old Megan acknowledged a consensual encounter with a male friend in a playful video diary she recorded several months before she made a rape report against Terry Jackson "Sweet T" Bunn, Jr.
Matrix has been hired by the Bunn family to trash Megan's reputation and to clean up Sweet T's "street" reputation as a 37-year-old sexual predator who cruises local bars and clubs in search of college coeds for sexual encounters.
Yesterday's APR story attempted to assassinate my character, as well. APR publisher Bill Britt provided Joe Perkins a media platform to launch an attack on my character when it published yesterday's article titled, "Self-proclaimed internet sleuth Donald V. Watkins draws fire for 'libelous lies'". According to Perkins:
"Donald Watkins is a financially broken, desperate man suffering from psychological and behavioral problems that have brought him to the brink of ruin," wrote Perkins. "Under investigation by Federal agencies, he has spent the last several months lying and fabricating slanderous stories for which he must be being paid or has the promise of some reward," Perkins continued. "In his post since October 26, he has told slanderous and libelous lies for which I intend to sue him. Then, through the lawsuit, we will find out who is paying Watkins to create these lies."
Of course, Perkins and Matrix represent Sweet T, the "suspect" named by Megan Rondini in her July 2, 2015 rape case. Sweet T was able to escape a criminal prosecution because Tuscaloosa Sheriff Ron Abernathy intervened on his behalf in the police investigation in Megan's rape case and because former Tuscaloosa DA Lyn Head used her prosecutorial discretion to "fix" the case for Sweet T.
As we reported in July, Lyn Head received campaign funds from the powerful and wealthy Bunn family before and after she presented Megan's rape case to a grand jury that was controlled by her office. APR has never mentioned this fact. After the case was fixed, Sweet T funneled campaign money to Lyn Head as a gesture of his appreciation. Lyn Head eagerly accepted his laundered campaign cash. APR omitted these two critical facts, as well.
Joe Perkins is a Tuscaloosa native and personal friend of the Bunn family. He graduated from high school with Sweet T's uncle, Sonny Bunn, Jr. Perkins has also been a longtime political hatchet man for the Alabama Education Association and Alabama Power Company. These two clients have paid Matrix millions of dollars for Perkins' trusted role as their consigliere. Matrix is well known in Alabama for its "dirty" tricks and clandestine political attacks against perceived or actual adversaries.
To be clear, there are only two sides to support in the Megan Rondini rape case. Based upon my experience as a former special assistant attorney general for the State of Alabama who handled major felony cases and my experience as the defense attorney who holds the record in American jurisprudence for winning acquittals on the most felony counts in a criminal case involving a single defendant, I believe the totality of evidence supports Megan Rondini's report that Sweet T raped her at his house. As such, I stand firmly with the rape victim in this case.
Furthermore, the hard news stories I have published in this rape case are free to the public and are fact-based. Unlike my media competitors, I do not need to sell ads, kiss the derrière of rich people and big corporations, or peddle subscriptions to potential readers in order to support my news service. In fact, the growth in my readership has been so phenomenal and successful that only cyber attacks by Matrix could stop it.
Joe Perkins, Matrix, APR, and the Tuscaloosa News have made it clear that they stand with Sweet T and the Bunn family in the Megan Rondini rape case. Perkins and Matrix work for the Bunn family's money, while APR and the News must sell ads to keep their fledging business operations afloat.
My track record for uncovering and exposing the truth in the public corruption and police misconduct scandals that have rocked Alabama during the past four decades is unmatched by any news organization or lawyer in the state. In recent years, I exposed the depths of Montgomery Federal Judge Mark Fuller's serial wife beating misconduct. This reporting forced Fuller's resignation. Afterwards, I broke former governor Robert Bentley's "sex for power" and public corruption scandal with paramour Rebekah Mason. Bentley pled guilty to ethics charges in April and resigned from office.
Like the Bunns, Mark Fuller and Robert Bentley had their minions attacking my character. Bentley even used his powers as governor and "Chief Magistrate of Alabama" to placed me under investigation by every state and federal investigatory body that would cater to his requests. In the end, Bentley's senseless efforts to stop my investigative news reporting did not work.
To date, neither Matrix, nor Sweet T, nor the Bunn family has been able to offer the public any credible version of the facts to counter the detailed factual reporting in my investigative news articles in Megan's rape case. Instead, they have resorted to Internet sabotage, unlawful hacking activities, and the character assassination of Megan Rondini, her family, and me.
The Rondini's have weathered Matrix's ongoing assault on the dignity and character of deceased daughter. As for me, I have been dealing with people like Joe Perkins, Bill Britt, and others of their ilk since I was a young child in Montgomery fighting to survive under the oppressive regimes of segregationist governors John M. Patterson and George Wallace.
By now, everybody knows there is nothing Matrix or the Bunn family can do or say to stop me from reporting the truth about Megan Rondini's rape case. I am "unbossed" and "unbought" in my reporting.
Finally, when a full and proper law enforcement record is eventually developed in the Megan Rondini rape case, I will be on the right side of history.

Donald V. Watkins There is one thing young reporters who aspire to become investigative journalists must always remember -- when you expose the dirty secrets of rich and powerful individuals, you will always be threatened and harassed by these people and their minions. This is why mainstream news media organizations Alabama tend to report only "powder-puff" or "safe" news (i.e., routine stories on mundane events that have already transpired). Everything in my life has prepared me to dig for the truth and to stand up to bullies like Joe Perkins who would obstruct the truth about a rape case for a fee. Fortunately, Perkins' fate as a PR firm will be decided by law enforcement officials in Texas and California in the near future. Meanwhile, Perkins, the Bunn family, and APR are welcomed to join the litany of adversaries and enemies who have scrutinized my personal and business backgrounds during the past four decades. Thus far, all of them have come up empty-handed.
