Mike Zimmer Calls Petrino A 'Coward' Over His 2007 Exit

Posted by The Meck - Oct 20, 2010 - 10:41p/ct

Former Falcons defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer blistered Coach Bobby Petrino.
Here's the link - ajc.com.
http://blogs.ajc.com/atlanta-falcons-blog/2010/10/20/mike-zimmer-calls-petrino-a-coward-over-his-2007-exit/?cxntfid=blogs_atlanta_falcons_blog&utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

excerpt ..
“When a coach quits in the middle of the year and ruins a bunch of people’s families and doesn’t have enough guts to finish out the year, I’m not a part of it,” Zimmer told the Cincinnati media. “And you can put that in the Arkansas News Gazette. I don’t really give a (bleep). He’s a coward, he ruined a bunch of people’s lives, a bunch of families, kids, because he didn’t have enough (guts) to stay there and finish the job.

I just emailed this link to the Ark Gazette.

Dothan Ala. Native, Matt Cain, Giants' Starting Pitcher Today In NLCS

Posted by The Meck - Oct 19, 2010 4:59p/ct.

Matt Cain is the starting RH pitcher for the SF Giants today in the NLCS.
He was born in Dothan, Ala [ The Meck's birthplace and hometown].
Matt Cain is one of the best pitchers in the National League.
He graduated from Houston High School in Germantown Tenn.
Cain was a 1st Round pick of the Giants in 2002. His ML debut was in 2005 at age 20.

I like the Giants mainly because they have one of the best mgrs in the game, Bruce Bochy.
And he's a great guy. Had the privelege of knowing Bochy when he managed the SD Padres.
He's a classy, kind man. Bochy knows how to communicate with people.
And he knows how to treat people and his players with class.
That translates into winning .. no matter what you're doing.
Bruce Bochy reminds me a lot of Bobby Cox.

The Giants have been my NLCS pick for several months.
Their starting and relief pitching makes them very capable of winning it all.
No one believed any team had a chance vs the Phils' pitching.
I'm picking the Giants to win the NLCS and the World Series.
NLCS Game 3 started today at 4/3ct on Fox.

Here's a Wikopedia link plus a SF Giants link on Cain's up-to-date stats.

Gonzalez: Fresh Style, Familiar Ethic

Posted by The Meck - Oct 17, 2010 - 8:55p

This a great article on Fredi Gonzalez, the new Braves manager.
Very informative and inspiring.
It's no mystery why Gonzalez is a success and so highly thought
of by Bobby Cox and the Braves organization.
No doubt .. The Braves are in reliable hands with a very capable baseball man, Fredi Gonzalez.
A very hard working, good man.

Steve Hummer / ajc.com gives an inside, detalied look at the man, Fredi Gonzalez.

A Classic quote from Attorney Jim Parkman
Parkman said he believed accusers would eventually have to do a “Mark Spitz” and “end up having to do the backstroke” before the case was over. Spitz is a former Olympic swimmer.

He also said he expected a long trial, stating it could take six months.“Probably the statute of limitations will pass before we finish this case,” Parkman said.

Famed Criminal Defense Attorney Jim Parkman Hired By Sen Harri Anne Smith

The Meck has learned that famed criminal defense attorney, Jim Parkman,
has been hired by [Ala] Sen. Harri Anne Smith to represent her in her federal criminal case.
I was informed this afternoon by a source that Parkman had been hired by Harri Anne.
I called Jim Parkman a few minutes ago and he confirmed it.
The final details were worked out this afternoon between he and Harri Anne.

Jim Parkman is no stranger to defending his clients against the federal government.
He and Donald Watkins defended Richard Scrushy in the HealthSouth fraud case in 2005.
And Scrushy was found not guilty. They won the largest corporate fraud case in U.S. history, $2.8 Billion.
There is no one better than Jim Parkman in the courtroom. No one.
Just ask the 12 that agreed with him in the Scrushy Case.

This was Harri Anne's best decision hiring Jim Parkman.
It levels the playing field with the federal government.
Simply put .. Parkman doesn't play. He even quit recess.

As Donald Watkins said: 'Parkman reminds me of Palidan.'
That's why Donald brought Parkman on the team in the Scrushy trial. He delivered.
Great decision by Harri Anne to hire Parkman. Her chances are better than they were yesterday.
Bingo. That was a Goody. No Doubt.

The Meck will have an interview with Jim Parkman in the next few days.
Write On.

FREDI GONZALEZ WILL BE NEW BRAVES MANAGER -- OCT 13, 2010

David O'Brien, the Braves beat writer for AJC.com broke the story several hrs ago.
Fredi Gonzalez will be the Braves new manager.
The announcement will be Thurs at a press conf.

Fredi Gonzalez is a great choice to follow in the footsteps of Bobby Cox, his mentor.
Fredi was a 3rd base coach for the Braves before being hired as Marlins mgr in 2007.
He was fired this past summer by the Marlins and Bobby Cox was not at all happy
about the way his good friend was treated and said so.
The Marlins showed no class by being the only ML team to not honor Bobby Cox in his last visit to their city.

Gonzalez is a real good manager and a Bobby Cox disciple.
He has the Bobby Cox demeanor. Upbeat. Positive. What You See Is What You Get.
I always enjoyed talking to Fredi when he was the 3rd base coach. He's consistent with class.

To be honest .. I really thought they should hire Fredi Gonzalez.
They got it right for the future in a BIG way with Fredi Gonzalez.
He's a winner.
Now .. The Braves need to invest in more ML Starters, not just role players.

Here's the link from David O'Brien - ajc.com - the man with the scoop.

BOBBY COX: THE BEST SKIPPER EVER .. LAST GAME FOR NO. 6

By The Meck - Oct 13, 2010 - 2:29a
Bobby Cox: The Best Skipper Ever .. No, 6's Last Game.

I could hardly believe my eyes and my ears. No way. Bobby Cox would be in the dugout forever.
He is THE SKIPPER .. THE BEST.
I hear it really is true. He has really retired.
The Braves will miss him. The fans will miss him. Baseball will forever miss him.

It will never be the same without this wonderful man, Bobby Cox, as the leader of the Braves.
No more No. 6 sitting in the dugout, and of course the consistent lean against the dugout wall. That picture we've seen every nite in our living room for the last 20 yrs. No more of his nicknames, and loudly spoken words of encouragement as his players come to bat.

No more Mr Calm. No more Mr Like A Rock. No matter the score.
No More Mr Loyalty. Which gave him the all-time record for ejections. No more .. I've always got your back. Even if you're 0 for 22. Bobby Cox could find positive things to say about your swing.

He has done many wonderful things for so many players, so many people. I am one of those fortunate many.
He touched my life in many ways .. always encouraged me. He was the best listener.
He always had TIME for The Meck and anyone else.

When I sat by him many times in the dugout or in his office .. he would always make me laugh and smile.
He was Mr. Encourager. I let him know .. 'If I ever go to the electric chair .. I'd like to have my last meal with you.' He could make you feel good about anything.

Bobby Cox has the '2 essentials that meet in the middle to reach a goal.'
'Passion and Compassion.' Passion: what you do in life.
Compassion: Others .. Others .. Others.

He taught me by his example .. How to accept others .. Just as they are.
After all .. That's the way he accepted me .. and everyone else.
I'm still practicing that Bobby Cox lesson. Still got a few bases to go.

Bobby Cox, no doubt, has the Gift Of Greatness .. 'The Ability To Make Those Around You Feel Great.'
I didn't feel so great watching him at the press conference last nite.
It hurt him to talk about his last game and his players. It was painful to watch.
You know how much Bobby Cox cares.

What will he do this coming spring 2011? After 51 yrs .. 51 Straight Springs of Baseball.?
It will never be the same without Bobby Cox in the dugout. Not for The Skipper, Not for You, Not for Me.

All the best to Bobby and his wonderful wife, Pam.
They gave all of us .. So much of Their TIME. And We Are Very Grateful.

My Life Will Never Be The Same .. Thanks To Bobby Cox.

Gentlemen,

If you support this racist (Gary Griffin) as the city's EEO officer, you will lose the moral and professional support of many city employees that were caused to expend thousands of dollars, me included, to protect ourselves from a witch-hunt investigation initiated by former police captain Jim Smith and furthered by Mr. Mike Tew and Mr. Gary Griffin, and for which, even after claims for reimbursement were properly submitted, these hard working employees never received a dime spent for their protection from "their" personnel board.

I apologize for the bluntness, but don't make this mistake. The man is not very bright and will cost the city a fortune. This comes from the police union lawyer that represents minority officers that will not be properly represented by this man.

If I may have a frank conversation with you, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank You for your service to our community!
